Meet Our Doctors
Michael Gruber, DMD, FAGD
Dr. Michael Gruber was a 1979, Omicron Kappa Upsilon graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry and completed a prestigious General Practice Residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital in 1980. After four years of active dental practice, Dr. Gruber established the practice for Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in 1984. He received his Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry in 1986, and in 1988, completed comprehensive prosthetic training in Osseointegrated Implants. In 2014, Dr. Gruber was nominated by his peers and accepted as a Fellow in the American College of Dentists (ACD), the oldest major honorary dentistry organization comprised of only 3.5 percent of practicing dentists in the United States. Its members have exemplified excellence through outstanding leadership and contributions to dentistry and society. Dr. Gruber has also been chosen by his peers as a "Top General Dentist" in N.J. Monthly magazine for the past 10 consecutive years, NJ Top Docs/Dentists for the past 8 years as well as a Top Dentist by the National Consumers Research Council and USA Top Dentists.
Dr. Gruber is a member of the TriCounty Dental Society, the New Jersey Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. Dr. Gruber has been an attending at Morristown Medical Center since 1980, where he teaches cosmetic, restorative and implant dentistry, and in 2017 was honored as the "Attending of the Year". He also is the Founder and Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Newark Children's Dental Center, which provides through volunteer dentists and auxiliaries, free dentistry to all of the children of the club ages 5-18.
Michela Russo, DDS
Dr. Russo is a general dentist who practices many aspects of dentistry at GRUBER DENTAL. She has been a part of GRUBER DENTAL for over 10 years. Dr. Russo completed her dental education at the New York University College of Dentistry in 1996 and completed a general practice dentistry residency program at Englewood Hospital in 1997.
Dr. Russo has enjoyed working in dentistry since she was 16 when she started as a dental assistant. She is currently a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, New Jersey Dental Association and American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
Dr. Russo strives to remain knowledgeable with all the latest techniques of modern dentistry. In her leisure time, Dr. Russo enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
Alexa Gruber, DDS
The staff at Gruber Dental would like to introduce Dr. Alexa Gruber to our practice. She will be starting with us July 10th and we are more than excited for the skills and knowledge she will be bringing to our practice. We would to take this opportunity to provide some background on Dr. Alexa Gruber as the newest addition to Gruber Dental and Dentistry in Parsippany, NJ.
Dr. Alexa Gruber was raised on Lake Hopatcong, in northwestern New Jersey. She attended the University of Richmond where she graduated with cum laude honors and degrees in Public Health and Biology with a Medical Humanities Concentration. She continued on to Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. While at VCU, she served as a lead coordinator for Missions of Mercy, completed a senior selective in Advanced Prosthodontics, a mentorship in Oral Medicine and received awards from the Academy of Oral Medicine and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
Following dental school, she completed a General Practice Residency at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey.
During her hospital-based residency program, she received advanced training in treatment of complex dental cases, management of medically compromised patients and patients with special health care needs, oral surgical procedures, pediatric dentistry, root canals, digital dentistry, dental implants and esthetic procedures. She had extensive training in treatment and management of patients with dental trauma in the emergency room as well as clearance for medical and surgical procedures. She is committed to continue advancing her training through continued education each year in order to provide her patients with the best possible care.
Dr. Gruber is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Tri-County Dental Society, New Jersey Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry and American Dental Association. She is involved as a volunteer with Mission of Mercy and The Boys and Girls Club of Newark. She plans to continue to give back to her community through these organizations and hopes to be involved with their growth in the future. She also plans to join staff at Morristown Medical Center.
In her free time, Dr. Gruber enjoys spending time with family (and the Other Dr. Gruber) being at the lake, travelling, hiking, biking and sailing with her husband, Dr. Doug Kitchin. Dr. Alexa Gruber is very excited to meet you and hopes to work with you in the future!
